Notice the base of the mountain

Listening to Brad Stulberg & Cal Newport talk on the Deep Questions podcast. Brad Stulberg is a lot like me in terms of temperament, so I find his advice very relatable and useful. Brad Stulberg mentioned how when we look at mountains, we tend to look at their peak or the slope of the sides. Few people notice the base, but the base is really the most important part of the mountain, which he used as a metaphor for a journey. You have to enjoy the journey along the way. Pay attention to the base too.

I’ll have to listen again to that part, or maybe read Stulberg’s book, to get more details on this.
