Seek Wealth, not Money nor Status

Taken from the beginning of this "How to Get Rich" thread by Naval Ravikant (https://nav.al/rich). I hadn't read much of Naval's work before and am glad to find this. Some of what he says surprisingly matches with what I tell people, like:

" If you really want to get paid in this world, you want to be number one at whatever you do. It can be niche—that’s the point. You can literally get paid for just being you.

Some of the more successful people in the world are that way. Oprah gets paid for being Oprah. Joe Rogan gets paid for being Joe Rogan. They’re being authentic to themselves."

and that ultimately physical health, mental health, and close connections are what we need :) I’ll have a video about that coming out.

The part about "keeping changing what you do until you're number one," I have to think more about. I think it's true but I have a hard time accepting it. It aligns very well with evolutionary psychology though, that we can't change our innate selves but can optimize our lives by changing our career to fit those selves. The part about not seeking status also meshes with the advice of Esteem Dynamics, which is to not engage in pseudo-esteem status-seeking games. However, Esteem Dynamics argues that the whole point of life is to get status. It’s what our biology drives us to seek.
