Hip and professional: Be like the gaming psychiatrist and humble neurosurgeon

Thanks to my friend for telling me about HealthyGamer.gg. I'm fascinated by what Dr. Alok Kanojia has accomplished with HealthyGamer and his own life story. I hope I can be as honest about my own some day.

I love it when people who have "prestigious" educations are so down-to-earth. Reminds me of Dr. Rahul Jandial, the neurosurgeon who wrote books like Life on a Knife's Edge. Dr. Jandial and Dr. Kanojia come off in their interviews as so genuine, unpretentious, and connected to modern culture. They are fun. They also both struggled academically before and during college, and had meandering paths which ultimately led them to the medical field.

I aspire to be as cool as them. I want to be proud enough of myself to be who I am, all parts of my identity. I want to be professional in skill without acting like a stuffy, stoic professional. I'm not sure yet if I will do something like Dr. Kanojia has, creating an online community. But I know I want to create something to deliver mental health tools at scale (online), and make it easy and free for anyone to access them. In particular, I want to leverage my own unique background (as Dr. Kanojia has leveraged his) to connect with populations which may be typically underserved.
