The 1 sentence that flips a negative into a positive mindset

Say "I get to do this"

Not "I have to do this"

First heard from Miss Val, former UCLA gymnastics coach, when talking about her experience beating breast cancer. She described how once she was in the mindset that she got to get chemotherapy, rather than that she had to get chemotherapy, her world became better.

It's like saying "I can" instead of "I should."

Use this statement for a more positive mindset!

When I’m feeling like a task is onerous, or like drudgery, I remind myself that I get to do this. Even with things like suffering, I remind myself this is a privilege to be able to experience. If I can’t end something, I might as well accept it and be as positive as I can about it.
