“Lifesaving Lessons from Working at TrueNorth Health” - Chef AJ interviewed me

On 1/31/23 Chef AJ interviewed me on her show, Chef AJ LIVE. Click the image above to view the interview. I shared about lessons from TrueNorth, expanding upon stories I’d written about in this article. And sharing about things like contraband found at TrueNorth ;)

Chef AJ is a superb host. She asked wonderful questions and really got me to open up more. We talked a lot about non-TrueNorth topics too!

In the days leading up to the interview I actually had a bad accommodative spasm reaction going on in my left eye, such that I couldn’t look at anything closer than 1 foot from me. I had to close that eye if I used anything like my computer. It felt like my eyeball and head were being ripped apart. I had a hard time sleeping and enjoying anything.

I had an eye appointment about an hour before the show, to update my Ortho-K prescription anyway. I was actually anxious that I’d have to cancel the appearance show because they’d find something serious like a retinal detachment going on. It literally felt like if I looked at anything with my left eye it would snap inside.

Long story short, that appointment ended up being another of many “I’m sorry, but we can’t do anything for you” appointments I’ve sat in throughout my life. I was at least happy that they didn’t find any abnormalities going on, just pointed out that my left and right optic nerves are not identical, which is something that I was born with.

I was full on adrenaline during the actual interview, and that helped keep my head out of that space. I honestly felt good during it and for the hours afterward I was in a surreal daze, just thinking about the topics we’d covered and feeling SO genuinely happy that I got to share the messages I wanted to.

Thank you Chef AJ for the opportunity to share about TrueNorth’s miracles, and encouraging me to pursue my dreams. It is an honor to be part of this community.
